   Libby Stevens is an award winning painter known for her richly colored landscapes of Loudoun County, Virginia. She creates her works in pastel and oil and has taught pastel painting at Loudoun Academy of the Arts/Art Square since 2002.  Stevens is a signature member of the Maryland Pastel Society and has studied with master pastelists Albert Handell, Richard McKinley and Margot Schulzke and oil painters Maggie Siner, Robert Johnson and Kurt Schwarz. She exhibits at Art Square, Leesburg, Va and in regional shows. 

Libby received her formal art education at the Tyler School of Art/Temple University in Philadelphia, majoring in metalsmithing.  After  her career as a jeweler,she devoted time to raising a family,and took up pastel painting with Margot Schulzke, in 1992, after a surprise gift from her husband,Jack. She was immediately hooked on pastel's vibrancy and range of luscious colors." It is an amazingly versatile medium that allows for so many different effects! "
